Mark 6:34(KJV); And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.

THE SHEPHERD’S MANDATE

God has called us as ministers of the gospel to care for those we lead and not necessarily to take care of them. In fact, scripture is very instructive on who we should take care of. These are the orphans, the widows and the elderly( James 1:27).

However, we live in a dispensation where many church going people who are not orphans, widows or the elderly expect to be taken care of by their pastors. They will get angry and feel neglected if they are not called regularly and visited frequently. That is their definition of care.

That is not so, child of God.

The best care that a man or woman of God can give is to teach you the Word of God. Why should you sulk when you have been given the Word? Why should you feel neglected when you have been consistently taught?

When you are taught how to build your faith, that is care. When you are taught how to commune and deepen your relationship with God, that is care. When you are taught the things that grow you as a minister, the virtues of those that hunger for greatness, the fortitude of the believer, the bottomlessness of God’s Word, that is care.

Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY: John 1:1, James 1:27

GOLDEN NUGGET: The best care that a man or woman of God can give is to teach you the Word of God. When you are taught how to build your faith, that is care. When you are taught how to commune and deepen your relationship with God, that is care. When you are taught the things that grow you as a minister, the virtues of those that hunger for greatness, the fortitude of the believer, the bottomlessness of God’s Word, that is care.

PRAYER: Father, I thank You for this truth. I receive this wisdom and choose to be alive to this understanding. I invest in the Word because I know that in it are the ways of life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
